Jake's recovery from Medulloblastoma

Jake's Story

Jake is a much loved and integral member of the Landscapeplus family, having worked as our warehouse manager for over a decade. He would regularly be seen rocking the air guitar to heavy metal bellowing through the speakers in the warehouse.

Friday 9th September 2022 is a day Jake and his family will never forget.

After suffering with double vision and balance issues for over 2 years, a CT scan revealed a large mass in Jake’s head and he was officially diagnosed with Medulloblastoma; a cancerous brain tumour. Jake was blue-lighted to John Radcliffe hospital in Oxford where over the next month he had numerous procedures to drain excess fluid from his brain and to prepare him for surgery.

On the 3rd November 2022, Jake returned to the same hospital ready for his 13 hour surgery the following day. After 111 days in hospital due to mobility, balance and speech issues, Jake finally returned home to his parents.

8 months after his diagnosis, Jake became a Father for the first time, which has been one of the main reasons for his hard work and dedication to his recovery. Torvi is his and Charlotte’s beautiful daughter. Due to his mobility and balance issues, Jake hasn’t been able to spend much time at home with both Charlotte and Torvi, instead living with his parents who are supporting him with his recovery.

Now Jake’s radiotherapy and chemotherapy have finished, he is working hard with his parents and his physiotherapist, Tomi, to regain his mobility and independence. As part of his rehabilitation program, Jake has started hydrotherapy sessions, but this comes at a huge cost. Hydrotherapy will be instrumental for Jake's recovery and working alongside physiotherapists provides a safe space where Jake can improve his balance and coordination along with re-education and encouragement of normal movement.

We would love to be able to help Jake's recovery so he can be back in his family home with his partner, Charlotte and baby daughter, Torvi.

Landscapeplus' Challenge

On Sunday 26th May the Landscapeplus team plan to run a combined 52 miles in 3 hours with the hopes to raise enough funds for Jake to take additional hydrotherapy sessions over the next 52 weeks. A 1-2 mile cross country route will be marked out and the team will continuously run until our target is completed; passing Jake and the crowd of spectators (fingers crossed) with ever lap.

Jake is a big Marvel and DC fan so in an effort to make the challenge more "fun or certainly funny" we will all be dressed as different Super Heroes and not necessarily our favourite ones!

If you would like to join us on the day you are more than welcome either as a spectator or a participant. The event will be held at Westonbirt School between 10am – 2pm.

How can you help?

This is the easy part! To help us achieve our aim to raise as much money as we can to enable Jake to increase the number of hydrotherapy sessions he is able to do you simply have to DONATE

Your support with this will be invaluable to get Jake back on his feet, turning a new page in his journey so he can create priceless memories back at home with Torvi and Charlotte.

Any support you can provide through a donation will make an immediate impact on Jake's life.
