Landscapeplus Events 2019 - August

10/06/2019

BBC Gardeners' World Live returned to the NEC from 13-16 June, 2019. It's the ultimate day out for keen, hands-on gardeners with inspiring Show Gardens. We have been lucky enough this years to be involved through the APL and WorldSkills providing advice from our own Paul Willavoys and providing products from Collingwood & Ortus Lights.

The Young Landscapers Award, supported by the Association of Professional Landscapers and sponsored by Marshalls. In this gruelling challenge, four of the most talented young landscapers in the country form two teams to collaborate and display their skills. The young landscapers, both under 28 years old, taking part in this years competition are:

Team A - Heritage Garden
MatthewWoods (Mysercough College) and Sam Gordon (The Garden Makers) were 1st and 2nd respectively in 2018's World Skills UK Live competition. Matthew was crowned the APL's "Rising Star" at their annual awards in London. Sam is no stranger to the pressures of show gardens with The Garden Makers taking gold and the peoples choice award at 2016 Gardeners World Live and with Sam returning from assisting with the Perennial Garden at this years RHS Chelsea.

Team B - Argent Garden

Reece McKay and Brian Hughes (CAFRE College) both studied at CAFRE college near Belfast and finished 3rd & 4th in 2018's World Skills UK Live competition. Brian has completed many projects of his own in Northern Ireland whilst Matthew is returning from a stint working with the team that built the gold medal winning Welcome to Yorkshire at this years RHS Chelsea.

Paul Willavoys has worked closely with both CAFRE College, Mysercough College, WorldSkills and the APL for the last year, so we are keen to see how these young up-and-comers perform in this event.

We have been fortunate over the last few months to have been able to provide products and advice to some of the Designers and Builders at verious RHS shows. Below are some of these Gardens.
