The History of Gardena
Gardena was founded in Ulm, Germany in 1961 by Werner Kress and Eberhard Kastner, two salesmen who started importing garden tools from France. In 1968 the initial breakthrough was made when they introduced the original Gardena system, a combination of orange components for water, including: tap connectors, hose connectors and water accessories. The next decade led to a range of innovative products and systems making Gardena the clear market leader. In 1978, things really got moving with the introduction of technology allowing for automatic garden irritation. Since 2007 Gardena is a member of Husqvarna Group. As a separate division, Gardena enjoys sufficient independence to focus on the needs of passionate gardeners and the strengths of the brand. In the context of the entire company Gardena can benefit from the size and strength of the Group, use their resources efficiently and purposefully build on the shared knowledge.
