At Landscapeplus, our aim is to supply Landscape Professionals with the best brands and systems. We appreciate that knowing where to start can sometimes be a daunting task due to the variety of brands, fittings and systems, but as always we are here to help.
In this blog, we're going to discuss our top lighting brands, and what makes them so good!
IN-LITE
We introduced in-lite to our Outdoor Lighting range in Autumn 2023, making it the newest brand in our collection.
What makes in-lite unique? Their premium, low-voltage system operates on 12V power, allowing you to install it all in perfect safety, on your own! The only requirements being a plug socket.
Here's 5 things you need to know about in-lite
- Easy to install: in-lite have developed a waterproof and 100% safe method to easily connect to power, meaning you don't need an electrician to install cables. You also don't require twinwall conduit beneath paving, as the cables can simply be covered by mulch.
- in-lite have a wide range of decorative fittings for every application.
- Another benefit of the in-lite system is that, with it only being 12v, it won’t become dangerous if you were to accidentally go through a cable. You’ll be able to repair it, even when it’s still on.
- in-lite offers a wide range of accessories for both the system and the light fittings. These include everything from motion sensors to WiFi bridges, and glare guards to extension cables. They are always adding accessories, with some exciting ones due to be released soon.
- SMART - Everyone has their own personal preferences when it comes to outdoor lighting. That’s why in-lite’s focus is putting you in control. Their app has a number of features, including setting scenes with multiple lighting zones, setting automatic on/off times, and controlling the colour and brightness of compatible fittings.
IN-LITE SWAY
One of the most unique fittings in the in-lite range is the SWAY, which was specifically designed to portray how outdoor lighting can be at one with nature. It is perfect for planting beds, as it can nestle amongst the plants and will sway in the wind (hence the name) due to its flexible riser. There are 3 different height options to choose from, (350mm, 6000mm, 1000mm), as well as 2 different head sizes, plus optional cap accessories which help shine the light downwards, perfect for Dark Skies lighting systems.
As you can see in the image, combining the different variations of the SWAY lights can create a beautiful aesthetic, allowing you to illuminate different heights of planting in your garden beds.
Collingwood
Collingwood designs and manufactures a diverse range of products varying from commercial and industrial products to residential and landscape lighting all with quality and innovation in mind.
Here's a few great things about Collingwood lights:
- They have such confidence in the quality of their products, that they offer a 7-year extended warranty on the majority of their range.
- With an IP rating of 65 or higher, they are well protected against long term water ingress.
- Some fittings can run at different light outputs depending on the power supply that you are using. This is great if you find you need more/less light on certain areas of your garden but want to use the same fitting for aesthetic reasons.
- Some fittings are anodized, which helps to prevent corrosion, making them ideal for coastal gardens.
Collingwood Spike Spotlights
The Collingwood Spike Spotlights are very versatile, they can be used in a lot of different locations around your garden. For example they are great for illuminating paths, trees and other garden features like sculptures or feature walls. They feature an adjustable head meaning you get the ideal lighting angle for every application.
Hunza/LuxR
It’s well known within the industry that Hunza and LuxR are sister companies. There are many similarities between the two brands, but also some differences that help set them apart:
- Both Hunza and LuxR’s fittings are modular, meaning individual parts can be replaced rather than the entire fitting in the event that they become damaged.
- All of Hunza and LuxR’s fittings are high quality and will more than likely last longer than their guarantee of 5 years.
- LuxR fittings are more compact, and you get more light output for the size of the fitting. The advantage of having a compact light is it is much more subtle, perfect if you are wanting to hide the light fittings.
- Hunza fittings have a more traditional aesthetic and are a very popular choice for traditional gardens.
- Both Hunza and LuxR fittings are available in three types of finish:
- Powder Coated Aluminium, with the most popular colour being black.
- Solid copper which slowly oxidises over time as it is exposed to the elements, creating that beautiful blue-green patina associated with copper.
- Marine-grade 316 stainless steel, which is highly resistant to corrosion even in coastal environments.
Hunza PURE LED Eyelid Step Light in Stainless Steel (s/steel)
The image below features 9 steps which are approximately 1.5m wide and as you can see, they are perfectly covered with 10 alternating fittings. They suit a wide array of outdoor steps. Another key feature of the fitting is the domed eyelid, which means there is no upward glare coming from the lights. This means the light emitted from the fitting is only being directed where required, the steps!
LuxR LED Micro Recessed Step Light in Stainless Steel (s/steel)
LuxR’s Micro Recessed Step light is the perfect fitting to showcase their compact style. If you are looking for a subtle fitting, the Micro Recessed step lights are small and go relatively unnoticed during the day, before really coming alive when it gets dark. They also have very low glare, which is ideal!
Although, as you can see in the picture above, it works just as effectively in other applications!

This is great if there is a specific feature or path (or even a driveway) you want to draw attention to. You can also combine multiple Stripers to create a funky or unique lighting pattern, which would help bring your garden to life.
Worried about glare from the fitting? The Striper is compatible with an optional cap that is specifically made to reduce the amount of upward glare from the fitting. Your eyes will be thankful for that!
Ortus
Exclusive to Landscapeplus, Ortus is a great cost-effective option for Outdoor Lighting.
Here’s a few reasons that make Ortus a great alternative.
- They offer a great value-for-money option if you are working to a smaller or tighter budget.
- One of the great things about Ortus is that if the light source in the fitting fails, it’s easy and affordable to replace, without having to replace the whole fitting. This is a great sustainability factor, as you won’t have to chuck the whole fitting into landfill.
- Another great thing is the multiple colour finish options for each fitting, allowing you to pick and choose whichever suits your garden best. Some fittings, such as the adjustable spike spotlight, are even available in solid copper, stainless steel or antique brass.
- All of Ortus’ fittings are manufactured to include lamp sockets, providing excellent energy saving along with the flexibility of replacement LED lamps.
Ortus Single Pole
If you’re looking for a versatile garden lighting option, the Ortus Single Pole light could be the perfect option for you. The fitting has a fully adjustable head, allowing you to light up any garden feature from any angle.
As you can see from the image, they are well suited to sitting in a planting bed due to the taller riser when compared to a standard adjustable spike spotlight. Another benefit of the Ortus single pole is you are able to change the output depending on the lamp.
